Welcome to the Class of 2021! The day is drawing nearer when you will first walk through the doors of 44 East 68th Street as a D.A. Freshman. We can't wait to welcome you, and to begin this journey. In preparation for the 2017-18 academic year, please visit this page for general information that will facilitate your transition to high school at Dominican Academy.

Checklist for Freshmen

Beginning of School FAQs

When is the first day of school? The first day of school for Freshmen is Thursday, September 7th. You will have two days of Orientation from September 7th-8th. You will receive a letter in the mail the last week of August with details on when to arrive and what to expect on those days.

What should I bring? You should bring something to write with, a notebook, a snack, and some pocket money ($10) for the First Day of School. On that day, you will receive your planner, lots of forms, your class schedule, and your locker and lock.

What do I wear? Expect to wear your full Summer or Winter Uniform, including blazer, on September 7th, 8th, 11th, and 12th. Details about the Freshman Welcome Mass (September 11th) and Picture Day (September 12th) are including in the Beginning of School mailing.

What supplies do I need? Check below for a list of required supplies for Freshmen.

I haven't gotten my uniform yet. What do I do? If you ordered your uniform on Orientation Day in May, Flynn O'Hara will mail your order to your home by UPS. If you have not gotten your uniform, you should have your parent/guardian contact Flynn O'Hara directly at 1-800-441-4122.

What about lunch? Cafeteria service will begin on Tuesday, September 12th. Please be sure to bring a snack or lunch with you on September 7th, 8th, and 11th, as you won't be able to purchase something at school on those days.

Registration Materials and Forms

    Be sure that you have turned in copies of all the forms below to complete your registration. Not sure if you've turned it in? Contact our Admissions Office.

    • School Photo / ID Photo Order Form: School Photos will be taken on Tuesday, September 12th between 8:00 AM and 1:30 PM. Students must be in full Winter or Summer uniform, including blazer. All new students are required to have an ID photo taken; you may also order prints of the photo, if you wish. The order form may be downloaded here. If you wish to order prints, please have your daughter bring this form with her on September 12th.
    • Transportation Form for those students residing within the five boroughs of New York City.
        • If you live outside of New York City (i.e. Long Island, New Jersey, Westchester, etc.), please contact our Registrar to facilitate processing of LIRR and Metro North student forms.
              • Metro North Student Form to be returned to the Registrar no later than August 1st.
              • Long Island Railroad forms must be obtained directly from an LIRR station or from Penn Station.
    • Immunization Records should be submitted to the Registrar as soon as possible.

    VOLLEYBALL: Volleyball camp for those interested in trying out for Volleyball are recommended to participate in our Volleyball Camp from August 21st-25th. The cost of the camp is $375. Please contact the Athletic Director for more information or to register.

    Tryouts for any student interested in playing Volleyball for the 2017-2018 year will take place on Friday, August 25th. Please click here for additional information and to register.

    SOCCER: Soccer tryouts for all Freshmen and prospective new players will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, August 28th & 29th from 8:00-10:00 A.M. All prospective players should meet at the entrance to Central Park at West 86th Street and Central Park West. Please bring cleats, shin guards, a soccer ball, and water.

    CROSS COUNTRY: Tryouts will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, September 5th and 6th at 3:00 P.M. All prospective runners should meet in front of D.A. (44 East 68th Street between Park and Madison Avenues). Please wear running clothes and shoes, and be sure to bring water.
