A Letter from Sr. Margaret Ormond, O.P., '60

Dear Alumnae & Friends,

I send you warm greetings during this new school year at D.A. I am writing to tell you about an exciting renovation project that we have been working on for the last two years.

It is the first time in our history that we have updated our facilities from the Basement to the Fifth Floor to accommodate the modern life of our students. We have entitled this project Tradition Through Transformation: A Campaign for D.A.’s Future.

Our primary focus throughout this initiative is to enhance the educational experience for every D.A. girl while maintaining the iconic features of the building we call home. We are now able to provide more areas for study, the Arts, and our ever-growing Advanced Placement program. We have created two new classrooms, renovated our chapel, updated technology infrastructure throughout the building, and envisioned new spaces for teachers and students to study, meet, and create.

This renovation would not be possible without a small group of Trustees, alumnae, parents, and friends who recognize D.A. as a vital part of their success. Through their generosity, we have raised $4.2 out of the $5 million dollars necessary to fund this project. Additionally, I am excited to announce that we have received a matching grant of $400,000 from an anonymous donor. This is an exciting challenge, and we rely on your support to accomplish this goal. In the coming weeks, we will share more information about the renovation and how you can get involved. Together, we will continue our mission of empowering intelligent young women to become spiritual, moral, and socially responsible leaders in a global society.

Please join me in reciting the Prayer for Our Dominican Academy, an opportunity to reflect on the many ways that D.A. has made a profound impact on our lives. I welcome you to come see the updated facilities for yourself. This is an exciting new chapter in our history, and we look forward to sharing it with you.

With prayers and gratitude,

Sr. Margaret Ormond, O.P., ’60
