On Thursday April 10, 2025, Dominican Academy celebrated the Annual Spring Auction & Benefit at the New York Athletic Club in Manhattan. This year we once again had a lively auction led by auctioneer Jamie McDonald with exciting live prizes and dozens of silent auction items.  We were delighted to honor our STEM Department’s achievements and see some of the incredible work that is being done in our classrooms. 

Our student ambassadors were vibrant examples of the reasons we come together on a night like this to celebrate their achievements and to continue to come together for D.A.  Thank you to our community of alumnae, parents, faculty, staff and friends – those with us that night, and to those who joined us in spirit – who helped make it a fantastic event. 

A heartfelt thank you to the incredible Dominican Academy alumnae who joined us for Career Day! This year, graduates spanning more than 25 years shared insights, advice, and personal stories in panel discussions and small group sessions, making a lasting impact on our juniors as they begin to envision their own futures. 

Your generosity in sharing your time and experiences truly embodies the D.A. spirit, inspiring the next generation of leaders, innovators, and changemakers. Once a D.A. girl, always a D.A. girl!

We warmly welcomed 50 of our incredible young alumnae from the classes of 2021-2024 for our annual Young Alumnae Reception! The festive morning was filled with holiday cheer, as our alumnae enjoyed breakfast and a beautiful Christmas concert from our Glee Club and Senior Ensemble, while reconnecting with their beloved teachers.  Thank you to all who joined us—it was heartwarming to see our recent graduates back home at DA. We can’t wait to welcome you back again soon!

On November 25th, D.A. hosted the first collaboration with Fordham Prep in our Non Profit Networking Night featuring a panel discussion with two of our D.A. alumnae and two alumni from Fordham Prep.  The panelists' backgrounds were in the health field, education, and the environment and they offered advice on finding your niche in the non-profit sector, using your transferable skills, and how to stay current with the changing world and new technologies.  The panel consisted of D.A. alumnae Vanessa Pino Lockel ’94 and Katie Hennessy ’08 and Fordham Prep alumni John Haley ’87 and was moderated by Charron Darris, FP ’94, Executive Director of The Reading Team. 

On October 26, 2024, Dominican Academy was thrilled to welcome back over 150 alumnae for the Class Reunion for the classes ending in “4” and “9”. The event started with a mass at D.A. presided over by Father Joseph Allen, O.P.  Years ranging from 1954 to 2019 enjoyed time catching up with old friends, looking through their yearbooks, taking tours of the school, picking up some D.A. gear and making future plans.  It was surely a day to remember!  

We had a beautiful cool evening for this year's Rooftop Reception held on September 20th, 2024.  We welcomed back over 60 Alumnae ranging in class years from 1958-2020.  Alumnae had the chance to bid on silent auction items and a 50-50 raffle while reconnecting with classmates, making new connections and meeting Dominic the Tiger.  We hope you'll join us on the roof next time!

Networking is not an event, it is a mindset!

Networking Night was started back in 2004 as a forum for all alumnae to meet and discuss careers. On June 6th, Dominican Academy was delighted to revive the event and welcome back eleven alumnae who were part of a panel discussion. This was followed by a group question and answer session and then a mix and mingle which allowed for one on one discussions. We appreciate the panelists giving up their time to come and engage with other alumnae about their career paths. It was also a great night to form new bonds or renew old ones. On Tuesday, April 16, 2024, Dominican Academy celebrated the annual Spring Auction & Benefit at the New York Athletic Club in Manhattan. The theme for this year’s gala was Celebrating the Arts at D.A. and we honored our dedicated faculty members: Eleanor Bunker, 37 years as our dance teacher and Gwyneth Mooney, 18 years as our music and drama teacher. The program for the evening included dance, drama, and music performances by our current students. We also had a very lively live auction led by our auctioneer, Jamie McDonald, and three items were auctioned off several times. A fun time was had by all, and we would like to thank all our guests, sponsors, and donors for making the night such a joyous occasion. 

On February 8, 2024, more than twenty alumnae, spanning the classes of 1976-2013, returned to Dominican Academy to share their life experiences with the junior class at Career Day. Some fields represented by alums included: accounting, engineering, STEM, entrepreneurship, medicine, and marketing. The day also included guidance for students with their resumes. Thank you to our presenters for taking the time to return to D.A. and share their career journeys. 

A fun fact from the day is that this year's program featured two orthopedic trauma surgeons which is incredibly impressive given that women only account for 6.5% of board-certified orthopedic surgeons in the United States, two of whom two came from D.A.
