Remembering 9/11
Dear Dominican Academy Families,
It is with a heavy heart that we all remember today the 9/11 tragedies that occurred twenty years ago. Yesterday at orientation we had the privilege of having the police officers from our precinct speak to all our students about community safety protocols. We all applauded the officers and thanked not only them but their fellow NYC police and transit officers, the NYC firemen, and other first responders who put themselves in harm's way each and every day. Please know that all of you and your families and friends are in our thoughts and prayers. Please click here to see yesterday's 9/11 Prayer Service Program.
In closing, let us pray:
Gracious and merciful God, we remember
the terrible acts against humanity that the world has suffered
and especially those in our country on this day twenty years ago. We pray for the innocent victims and their families.
We pray also that those whose hearts are filled with hate might be turned toward love. Help us not to speak or act rashly, but fill our hearts
With passion for those in need and
Strengthen our wills that we may do justice, love mercy,
And walk humbly before you, Amen.
With much hope and gratitude,
Dr. Leslie Poole Petit, P'14, P'19, Principal
