Isabella Quatela '21 Featured in the New York Times' Coverage of Pope Leo XIV

When Cardinals in Rome signaled the election of a new pope on May 8, 2025, D.A. students eagerly watched in anticipation from 68th Street via a livestream shared by Dr. Egler. 

Once Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost was announced as the first American pope, students at his alma mater, Villanova University, erupted in joy. Isabella Quatela '21, a D.A. graduate and current Villanova senior, shared the student body response with the New York Times.

"As soon as we heard 'Prevost,' everyone started cheering," Quetala said.
