A Special Announcement on the Feast of St. Dominic
As part of the celebration of the founder and patron of the Dominican Order, Dominican Academy announced a special new bond with Dominican Veritas Ministries (DVM), joining a network of 13 schools and sustaining our Catholic and Dominican identity for future generations.
Dominican Veritas Ministries is governed by five Dominican Sisters who serve as Members. This new model for canonical sponsorship will continue to provide the school with rights and responsibilities within the Church while driving the solid theological and spiritual formation that guides our Dominican mission. It follows the Dominican Sisters of Peace – the successors to the congregation of Dominican Sisters who founded D.A. in 1897 – who have been the canonical sponsors of our school for the last 15 years.
“St. Dominic and Dominican Sisters like Sr. Joan Franks, OP ’59 continue to inspire the lay leaders at D.A., our incredible faculty and students, and all of our partners across the country as we renew our efforts to be true to our mission, serving our students and the world,” said Alexandria M. Egler, Ph.D., P ’10, president of Dominican Academy.
