Dominican Academy (D.A.) is the only all-honors Catholic College Preparatory High School for Girls in NY State. D.A. has been educating young women in the Catholic tradition of Saint Dominic since 1897. It offers a rigorous academic program distinguished by a firm commitment to values of truth, integrity, study, community, service, and prayer. Sponsored by the Dominican Sisters of Peace and located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, D.A. challenges and empowers intelligent young women to become spiritual, intellectual, moral, and socially responsible leaders in a global society.
Position Overview
The Grant Writer reports to the Executive Director of Development (EDD). Working closely with the EDD, the Grant Writer will research, write, prepare, and submit compelling grant proposals to support scholarships, current and future academic programs, and the operational budget at Dominican Academy. This is a part-time position.
Grant Writer Responsibilities:
• Identify grant funding opportunities.
• Write, submit, and manage grant proposals and award reports.
• Work independently, be able to work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
• Maintain proficient knowledge of Dominican Academy’s history and programs.
• Develop relationships with funders and collaborate with the D.A. department and program chairs.
• Furnish prospective funders with supporting documents.
• Collaborate with the EDD to send grantors D.A. newsletters/media highlights and promote on-site tours.
Grant Writer Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in English, marketing, communication, or related fields.
• 3-5 years of grant writing experience with proven successes.
• Proficient understanding or belief in Catholic (Dominican) education, including the values of study, community, service, prayer, and diversity.
• To ensure success, you must write well, be proficient in fundraising methods, and be committed to the Dominican Academy's mission.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Strong people skills.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other relevant computer systems.
• Outstanding multitasking abilities.
