Dear Sister Alumnae,

After my graduation in 1959, I never expected to return as our alma mater’s principal. Although the names and faces have changed, many things remain the same.

Every morning, I look forward to greeting the young women of Dominican Academy—many your daughters, nieces, and even granddaughters. I do not, however, look forward to monitoring uniforms!  Some things never change.

In its 111th year, Dominican Academy’s tradition of educational excellence and service grows only stronger. While students can now study anatomy, computer science, and logic, all continue to practice ballet and ballroom under Lady Wellesley’s gentle gaze and conjugate Latin verbs until they echo in unison through the halls.

The red-carpeted marble staircase and crystal chandelier in Room 4 still sparkle in our 85-year-old jewel of a school. Come home soon.

In the Spirit of St. Dominic,

Sister Joan Franks, O.P., ‘59
Principal
