On May 28, 2008, nine alumnae speakers and over 30 young alumnae and current students attended the Annual Career Fair at Dominican Academy at 6:00 PM. The event began with refreshments and hors d’oeuvres, including ratatouille fillo cups, kreatopita and tomato quiche. Afterwards, everyone gathered in the Auditorium for a Welcome speech from both Sr. Joan Franks, ‘59 and Ms. Doreen Lobelle, ‘00. Ms. Lobelle introduced the Keynote Speaker, Deborah Carroll, ’71. Ms. Carroll had graciously stepped in as Keynote Speaker after Gabriela Palmieri, ’93, was unable to make it due to a business trip to San Francisco. The nine inspirational women on the career panel spoke about their journeys after D.A. - and how most of them had no idea what to do for their career! It was evident, though, that most women had been led down a path that brought them to the unexpected – yet rewarding - place of finding a job that they love. We thank these speakers for coming to the Career Fair and sharing their wisdom and knowledge. The speakers were as follows: Deborah Carroll, ’71 – Keynote Speaker WPP, Vice President/Recruiter
Margaret Besheer, ‘85 Voice of America, Reporter
Ellen Geis, ‘85 The Mary Louis Academy, Math Teacher
Jessica Gushee, ‘87 St. Ignatius Loyola , Former Elementary School Teacher Former Marketing Experience
