The D.A. five-girl team won the first round of the Fed Challenge competition on Monday. The girls selected for the team were from Mr. McDermott's AP Macroeconomics class. They are Patricia Baquiran, Jessica Daboin, Christine Karout, Alexandra Lotero, and Anna Zhao. They delivered a 20-minute presentation on the state of the economy and what action the Fed should take regarding monetary policy. They then handled questions from two Fed judges for another 20 minutes. One judge complimented the team for its direct, straightforward presentation that demonstrated that all the girls "did their homework" in preparing for the contest.

There were 22 schools in Monday's competition sponsored by the Federal Reserve to encourage the study of economics that will continue throughout this coming week. Further details to come soon!
