The Dominican Academy Alumnae Association, which meets four to five times annually, was reestablished in 2003 with the goal of encouraging alumnae to remain connected and to participate in the growth and advancement of Dominican Academy.
Since its inception, the Association has sponsored annual events such as the Rooftop Reconnection Reception for all alumnae, a Welcome Home reception for young alumnae in college, and an induction into the Alumnae Association at the senior luncheon. Other events include an art tour, reunions, and a Networking Night. There are many opportunities for alumnae to stay connected with their alma mater. You may join the Alumnae Association, serve as a Class Representative, join a committee, or be a guest speaker here at school. A new initiative of the Alumnae Association is to offer more career-oriented opportunities for both alumnae and current students. The goal is to create a forum where alumnae and students have the chance to network and explore career interests through a series of events that promote their professional growth and success. The Career Fair, scheduled for May 28, 2008, targets current students, younger alumnae and anyone considering a career change. The Alumnae Association hopes to make Dominican Academy a viable career resource for the alumnae community and student body. To coincide with this new project, alumnae have the option to volunteer for D.A.’s annual Career Day, to be held on May 21, 2008, which is designed to expose the junior class to a variety of industries. Additionally, alumnae may become a mentor to a young alumna or current student, host a shadow day at your office, or recruit a student or fellow alumna for an internship or job. The options to get involved are endless, but the impact is immeasurable.
